东太平洋茎柔鱼内壳形态差异性分析

本文以形态学测量法分析不同海洋环境下茎柔鱼各地理群体间差异。共测量采集自秘鲁、哥斯达黎加和中东太平洋赤道海域460根内壳样本的7项形态学指标。以海表温度(SST)、叶绿素浓度(Chl-a)和流速表征海洋环境,探究其对内壳形态的潜在影响。结果表明,雌、雄个体内壳形态存在显著差异,且基于内壳形态的各地理群体判别正确率达84.3%,但未达到亚种群级别。SST较高的海域和充足的食物有利于内壳叶轴(proostracum)的经向生长。而相对较长的尾锤(conus)可为鳍提供足够的支撑以适应高流速的海域。本结果证明内壳形态用于区分茎柔鱼地理群体的可行性,同时表明内壳形态差异可能与其对栖息海域环境的适应性有关。
Morphometric analysis was used to explore the geographic variation of population units within jumbo squid(Dosidicus gigas) under distinct environmental conditions. Seven morphometric characteristics were measured from 460 specimens collected off Peru, Costa Rica and equatorial central eastern Pacific. Sea surface temperature(SST), chlorophyll-a concentration(Chl-a) and current velocity(CV) were used to evaluate the potential effects of environmental conditions on phenotypic divergence in the gladius. Significant differences were found between sexes and population units. Results from discriminant analysis showed an overall correct classification rate of 84.3%. However, stable population substructuring did not happen. Water of a high temperature and sufficient food availability was more appropriate to the longitudinal growth of the proostracum. A longer conus could provide sufficient reinforcement for fin locomotion to accommodate the higher speed current field. These results support our general hypothesis that the shape of the gladius can be used to distinguish geographic populations and this variation in gladii shape occurs as an adaptation to environmental conditions.
