The strength model of self-control provided a new perspective for discussing people's choices. Studies have found that making choices can deplete self-control resource and lead to ego depletion. But existing research on testing depletion effect did not control subjects' trait self-control, and the causes of depletion effect in study also need to deepen. In this study we will explore the reason of the choice depletion by setting and manipulating the variable of trade-off conflict and other difficulty after controlling subjects' trait self-control. We found that:(1)Subjects' performance of Stroop task after making choices was significant lower than the subjects who made assessment tasks when subjects' trait self-control were controlled;(2)Subjects' performance of Stroop task after making high trade-off conflict was significant lower than the subjects who made low trade-off conflict, reading difficulty of choice has no influence on Stroop task performance, there has no interaction effect of trade-off conflict and reading difficulty;(3)Subjects' performance of Stroop task after choosing for themselves was significant lower than the subjects who choose for others, option information processing difficulty has no influence on Stroop task performance, there has no interaction effect of trade-off conflict and information processing difficulty. These findings provide evidence that making choices have depletion effect and it is trade-off conflict difficulty cause depleting.
