从多模态符号学角度探究中美大学网站文化异同点

摘要
随着科学技术的快速发展,多媒体在社会生活中发挥了越来越重要的作用。自20世纪90年代中期以来,众多功能语言学家开始以韩礼德的功能语法学为理论基础,尝试将社会符号的研究重心转到以图像、动作、声音等多种模态共同进行的研究中,这就为多模态的研究提供了理论基础。此时,话语研究不再仅限于文本模式,而是从画面、动画、声音、编排等多个层面进行研究。在此基础上,以克瑞斯和勒文为代表的语言学家提出视觉语法系统,进一步发展了功能语法学的理论体系。在视觉系统中图像的再现意义、互动意义和构图意义分别对应于功能语法学的概念意义、人际功能以及组篇功能。另一方面,在信息化时代,大学网站的建设往往是大学软实力的重要体现。作为大学文化的载体,网站在传播知识及沟通交流方面起到了不可替代的作用。而地理位置、历史时期等因素造成了中美文化的差异和相似之处,这些会反映在网站的各个方面,为网站文化研究提供了现实可行性。本文以由韩礼德提出的功能语法学基础上发展的视觉语法为理论出发点,采取随机抽样,定量与定性相结合,典型图像具体分析方法,从再现意义,互动意义和构图意义三个方面探究中美大学网站的异同点,并尝试发现网站背后的文化内因,以期为建设高水平大学网站提供帮助。
With the rapid development of science and technology, the multimedia has played an increasingly important role in social life. Since the 1920 s, many systemic-Functional linguistics have attempted to transfer the focusing point of semiotic system to the multimodal analysis on the theoretical basis of Halliday's Systemic Functional Grammar, which provides the theoretical foundations for multimodal discourse analysis. Discourse analyses are hence not merely limited to text-mode, but concern with various forms of research on picture, animation,sound, layout, etc. Linguistician represented by Kress & Van Leeuwen advocate the visual grammar system, further extending the systemic functional grammar. In Visual Grammar, the Representation, Interaction and Composition correspond with ideational, interpersonal and textual meanings in Systemic Functional Grammar.Meanwhile, in the information age, the websites of university are the great embodiments of its soft power. As the cultural carrier, websites play an indispensable part in knowledge transmission,and communication promotion. The various elements such as geographical locations, historical development, and so on lead to the similarities and differences between Chinese and American culture which can be reflected on the separate aspects of the websites. This provides the reality accessibility of the research.The paper, theoretically bases on the Halliday's Systemic Grammar and its developmental theory of Visual Grammar, aims to explore the similarities and differences of Chinese and American universities and colleges, offering some supporting evidence the construction ofhigh-level websites.
