摘要
<正>宗教与文学采用不同的路径——神圣的与世俗的视角——抵达同一目的地,即对人类精神与命运的终极关怀。神性与人性共同构成了人类历史进程中所有物质生活和精神发展的整体图景。西方文学深深地根植于西方社会的集体无意识之中,弥漫着浓郁的基督教文化色彩,其中《圣经》文学影响尤为彰显。在跨文化研究的背景之下,从基督教文化和《圣经》文学传统的视角考察西方文学将会具有特殊价值。本文以美国文学为个案,探讨西方文学理论与批评与《圣经》文学因素的相关性,认为把《圣经》阐释融入西方文学及理论研究框架之内既具有合理性又具有合法性,为全面审视西方文学理论与批评提供了理性的视角。其价值不仅在于对西方文学的综合诠释,而且还在于对人类精神生活的全面提升。
With different approaches,one being sacred and the other worldly,to contemplating this world,religion and literature actually reach the same destination:an ultimate concern for the spirit and fate of human beings. Divinity and humanity combine to constitute a full picture of all spiritual and material life in the course of human history.Deeply rooted in the western collective consciousness,Western literary imagination is tremendously tinted by and profoundly infused with the Christian cultural elements,with the Biblical literary tradition in particular.In this sense,it will be of great significance to conduct Western literary studies from the perspective of Christian culture and the Biblical literary tradition in the backdrop of current interdisciplinary studies so as to provide an overall understanding of the Western literary imagination. This paper examines the relevance of Western literary theories and criticism for the biblical literary elements,with American literature as a case study.It argues that it is convincing and rational to include biblical interpretation within the framework of the Western literary studies,in order to offer a panoramic scope to look at Western literature and its theories and criticism in a sensible manner.Its value lies not only in its significance for a comprehensive interpretation of the Western literature, but also in its concern for an enhancement of human spiritual life.
