摘要
In this paper, three types of stems, namely expanded shredded stem(ESS), expanded cut stem(ECS) and expanded cut rolled stem(ECRS) were prepared. The influences of the three types of stems on cigarette mainstream smoke and main physical properties of the cigarette were investigated. The effect of drying process and length of ESS on cigarette mainstream smoke and main physicals properties of the cigarette were investigated. The results show that: 1) ESS significantly reduced the CO and hydrogen cyanide deliveries of cigarette as compared with those of ECS and ECRS. ESS cigarette showed slightly enhanced tar, nicotine and phenol deliveries. ESS reduced the pressure drop and ventilation efficiency and improved the firmness of the cigarette. 2) ESS dried in a flash evaporation drier reduced the tar, nicotine and CO deliveries of the cigarette compared with the ESS dried in a cylinder drier, and enhanced the pressure drop, ventilation efficiency and firmness of the cigarette. 3) With the increasing stem length, the CO delivery of cigarette mainstream smoke was decreased, the pressure drop and the ventilation efficiency of the cigarette were reduced, and the cigarette end fallout of the cut tobacco was reduced.Keywords:Expanded shredded stem(ESS); Expanded cut stem(ECS); Expanded cut rolled stem(ECRS);
