As a typical kind of POPs, the PCDD/Fs is greatly harmful to human health. The main source of PCDD/Fs in the atmosphere comes from the incineration of MSW, which is merely less than that comes from metallurgical industry. And it is significant to inhibit the formation of PCDD/Fs in the source by Chemical suppression method due to its efficient and low cost. Based on the formation mechanism of PCDD/Fs,this paperreviews the research progress of the inhibitor of PCDD/Fs including that some common inhibitors like alkaline oxides, sulfur compounds, Nitrogen-containing compound and others, the mechanism of the inhibitors, the actual impact properties of the inhibitors during the incineration in MSWI and the comparison of the suppress capability of these inhibitors. As a summary, a new direction of the development of inhibitors is put forward.
