摘要
【Background and Aims】 Grain yield and nitrogen use efficiency(NUE) of winter wheat could be synchronously improved by managing the seeding rate. However,an increased seeding rate makes wheat plant more susceptible to lodging.Maintaining or improving grain yield and NUE without a reduction in lodging resistance is a major goal of management strategy researchers.【Materials and Methods】 During the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons, two winter wheat cultivars were sown on three dates(conventional sowing on 8 October, early sowing on 1October,and delayed sowing on 15 October, with an average of 112.6 and 107.8 days ≥0℃temperature accumulation before and after conventional sowing prior to wintering, respectively)with relatively high seeding rate. The responses of grain yield,NUE,and lodging resistance to sowing date were investigated.【Results】 The early, conventional and late sowing resulted in no differences in grain yield based on the equivalent kernel weight and number of kernels per unit area.Early and conventional sowing showed equivalent NUE owing to equivalent NUE components;however, delayed sowing showed the same NUE by increasing nitrogen utilisation efficiency due to a reduction in grain nitrogen concentration.Late sowing significantly increased lodging resistance of winter wheat through reducing culm height at the centre of gravity and increasing tensile failure strength of the base internode.【Conclusions】 Sowing later man the conventional sowing times could synergistically observe high grain yield,NUE,and lodging resistance.
