Application of response surface methodology on optimizing extraction of antioxidants from Cordycepskyushuensis by ultrasonic-assisted extraction

The extraction of antioxidant substances from cultured Cordycepskyushuensis withultrasonic-assisted extraction(UAE) was optimized using response surface methodology(RSM).Under the optimal conditions:liquid-solid ratio of 500:1,ultrasonic power of 156.52 W,extraction time of 30 min with water as extract solution,the scavenging activity of DPPH reached to 71.40±1.77%,which indicated that cultured Cordycepskyushuensispossess a strong antioxidant activity.Verification experiment was carried out,and no significant difference was found between observed and estimated values for each response,suggesting that the estimated models were reliable and valid for UAE of antioxidants.However,the bioactive components such as nucleosides,polyphenols,and polysaccharides showed no obvious correlation between the contents and the scavenging ratio of DPPH.Thus,further study was needed to investigate the antioxidant mechanism of Cordycepskyushuensis.
