The yong Indian writer Aravind Adiga at the age of33won the Booker Prize withhis novel The White Tiger that overwhelmed the prestigious Irish writter in the finalround competition in2008.Since then, Aravind Adiga become very popular and drewcritics' attention to his other works. His existing published and delivered works can bedivided into two parts roughly. One part consists of a large amount ofcommunications, reports, editorials, literature reviews and introduction of authors andworks ect that were created during his journalism career. The other part are the novelThe White Tiger, short stories Between The Assassinations and Smack, Last ChristmasIn Bandra that have not collected into his short stories. All these articles were createdafter he became a free writer. The existing researches on his works at home and abroadare short of system, because most critics explore his works only from some certainaspects. What's more, the studies on his works created in his journalism career arescarce, almost a blank. Therefore, studies on his works have great development spaceand research potentials.
As for the studies of his works' integrities, this article treats virtual narrative andrealistic narrative work as its main research objects. So as to make an all-round study ofhis growing experience of his creation, and imagination of his works and the currentresearch situation on his works at home and abroad, it bases on the original works andcombines India's economy, politics and culture. This paper is divided into four chapterson structure. First chapter is the introduction. The writer gives a brief review on India'history, geography, culture and social culture.Additionally, it puts forward the researchsignificance of itself.
Study in chapter two is closely connected with his realistic narrative works.Theproceeding three sections separately analysis India's politics, economy, culture, ect thatdepicted in his works. The fourth section analysis India's social status in Adiga's eyesand "scream","doubts" of India's social status portrayed in his works.
Study in chapter three integrates two major characteristics about power phenomenathat were pionted out by Zhu Guohua. It also sets foot in Adiga's virtual narrative works. The proceeding three sections separately expound the power fortification in theeconomic, political, and cultural fields. The fourth section elaborates Adiga's view ofIndia's social status "anatomy","cross-examine" of India's social status that described inhis works.
Study in chapter four bases on the background of globalization and post-colonialtheory to interpret Adiga's realistic narrative and virtual narrative. The interpretation onhis realistic narrative works India's reality of its development and globalization.Thepaper mainly explores the reason why the paradox lies in the reality of India's economyand politics and what were described in his works. The explanation of his virtualnarrative works is from post-colonial theories of ecological consciousness reflected inhis works.
In closing, this article in the epilogue part summarize the integrity of the wholepassage. Adiga's works not only have essential cognitive values, but have aestheticvalues.
