面向宽带网络应用的多媒体文档建模及其实现

摘要
随着信息技术的发展、网络带宽的不断增加,基于宽带网络的各种应用中包含越来越多的语音、图像、视频等多媒体数据。从而,为用户提供方便存取、易于操作、灵活性强的网络多媒体数据已成为迫切需要解决的重大问题。
     目前常用的多媒体文档模型具有明显的缺点:只能支持简单的多种媒体数据组织,不能充分显示多媒体数据的特点和优势,不利于多媒体数据的进一步应用和推广;只能支持多媒体数据最基本时空需求,难以满足逐渐发展的高级需求。随着多媒体文档在宽带网络中应用的日益广泛,数据模型的不完备性很大程度限制和阻碍了应用的发展。
     据此背景,作者通过研究现有模型的优缺点结合用户需求,提出一个更完善的多媒体文档模型MDM,并设计和基本实现其原型系统。
     论文结构如下:
     作者首先研究用户对多媒体文档的主要需求及多媒体文档的特点,分析现有多媒体文档模型的优缺点,提出面向宽带网络应用的多媒体文档模型MDM,分析其可行性、完备性和优越性。MDM模型为层次结构,由内容层、逻辑层、表现层和语义层组成,具有良好的可扩展性。该模型具有以下特点:比现有模型更好的支持用户需求,尤其对文档片断的重用需求、文档结构的重用需求以及对文档适应性渲染需求。然后分析了MDM模型关键实现技术,并设计实现了基于MDM模型的原型系统,从而验证该模型的可行性,正确性。
     作者的主要贡献是:
     1.针对目前多媒体文档缺乏对语义关系的描述,提出了多媒体文档定义的改进思路。
     2.比较现有多媒体文档模型的优缺点,结合用户需求和多媒体文档特点提出多媒体文档模型(MDM),给出形式化描述及其基本操作描述,并分析了该模型的特点。
     3.基于提出的MDM模型,分析了其关键实现技术,实现了“基于MDM模型的网络多媒体信息管理系统原型”。该原型系统应用于上海市重大科技攻关项目“网络多媒体信息管理平台”,从而验证该模型的可行性,正确性。
Nowadays with the rapid development of information technology and the growth of network bandwidth, application for broadband contains more and more multimedia data such as audio, image, video, etc. An important issue emerges. That is, how to provide multimedia data that can be conveniently saved/loaded, and flexibly operated.
    Currently, the common multimedia document models have obvious defects: They cannot fully express these media data' s features, and thus debased the performance of multimedia data application. They only fulfill the basic requirements of multimedia documents; they cannot provide sufficient modeling support for advanced requirements. With the growing application of multimedia documents in network, the referenced disadvantages depress the application and progress of multimedia documents.
    The thesis is based on the above. The author provides a better multimedia document model and designs the prototype of the model through the research on advantages and disadvantages of existing models and requirements from users.
    The structure of the thesis as follows:
    At first, the author researchs on the requirements and characteristics of multimedia document, and analyzes advantages and disadvantages of the existing models. Then, the author designs MDM that is a multimedia document model for broadband application, introducing its feasibility and putting forward its formal specification and advantages. MDM is hierarchical with content layer, logical layer, represent layer and semantic layer. Then, the author analyzes the key technology of implementation, and designs a prototype, and then completes the main functionalities. According to the prototype we testify its feasibility, maturity and other advantages of MDM.
    The main contribution of this thesis can be concluded as follows:
    
    
    
    1.Aming at the lack of semantic description of multimedia documents, the thesis puts forward an improved way to dafine them.
    2.According to the requirements and characteristics of multimedia document, comparing advantages and disadvantages of the existing models, the author designs MDM that is a multimedia document model for broadband application, and puts forward its formal specification and basic manipulation and features.
    3.Based on MDM, the author analyzes the key technologies of implementation and completes its prototype. The prototype is used in the project of "Network Multimedia Information Management Platform" , testifying its feasibility and validity.
