存储区域网络管理系统的研究与实现

摘要
存储区域网络(Storage Area Network—SAN)为日益增长的信息存储和管理需要提供了很好的解决途径,但也带来了新的挑战,即如何高效地进行SAN管理的问题。实现SAN的管理离不开存储管理软件的支持。存储管理软件在存储系统中占有越来越重要的地位。
     基于上述需求,作者对SAN的管理问题及其管理软件的开发技术进行了研究。SAN不同于传统的局域网,但又与其有类似之处。借鉴传统的网络管理思想与方法,作者提出了SAN管理的基本系统管理原则。结合一般软件的体系结构设计方法,吸收了模块化软件设计思想和代理(Agent)技术的思想,并通过分析SAN管理软件特有的功能需求,作者提出了一个基本的SAN管理软件体系结构:
     1) 基本软件模型:采用客户/服务器模型
     2) 软件模块划分方法:整个系统可化分为管理功能模块和公共服务模块两部分。这些模块又分别包含若干子模块,不同的子模块分别实现为一个或多个进程。
     3) 模块间的通信设计:作者在此提出了一种基于消息分类的模块间通信设计方法。即对模块间需要传送的消息进行分类,并根据操作系统提供的IPC(Inter Process Communication)机制的特点,选择最佳的通信实现方式。
     以上面提出的SAN管理软件体系结构为基础,设计和实现了一个基于FC-AL(Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop)的SAN管理系统。该系统具有十分丰富的功能:存储整合、存储共享、灾难恢复、数据复制、性能监视、状态监视和集中式管理等。由于该系统的设计与实现是在一整套成熟的软件工程规范指导下完成的,因此,具有稳定、健壮、可维护性好等优点。目前,该系统已作为产品发布,并取得了很好的经济效益。
     随着信息化技术的飞速发展和在社会各个领域的广泛应用,越来越多的信息转变为数字形式,人们对信息的存储和管理需求会越来越大。对SAN管理和SAN管理软件开发技术的研究在国外已成为热点,而国内在这方面的投入还很少。因此,该项研究有较大的理论价值和应用前景。
SAN(Storage Area Network) is a good solution for storing and managing the increasing information. But a problem needing to deal with is how to manage SAN efficiently. Without using storage management software, it is impossible for SAN management. Today, Storage management plays a more and more importmant role in whole storage system.
    Therefore, The Auther makes a research of how to manage SAN and how to design and develop a proper SAN management software. As we know, SAN is a network alike to LAN(Local Area Network) although difference exist between them.By referring to management method of LAN, the Auther gives the primitive principles for SAN management. According to software module programming method and agent technology, by analyzing the architecture of common software system and the special function demand of storage management software, the auther designs a basic storage management software architecture:
    1) basic software model: Client/Server software model
    2) the method of deviding software modules: the whole system is deivded two part, one is managent function module;another is common service module. A few submodules are included in every part. The submodules may be implemented as one or more processes.
    3) communication design among software modules: deviding the communication messages into different types and selecting the optimal IPC(Inter Process Communication) method for each of the types according to the IPC characteristics of OS.
    Further, the auther designs and develops a SAN management software base on FC-AL (Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop) . As concerned as functions, the software can provide the following functions such as storage integration, storage sharing, disaster recovery, performance watch, status watch, data replication and central management, etc.The software was designed and implemented according to a perfect set of software engineering specification. Therfore, it has the advantages of stability, robusticity and convenient maintenance. At present, the software has been released oversea, with a good economical benefit returned.

    of information technology,more and more information exists in digital form. In the world, the research of SAN management and SAN mnagement software have become a hotspot. However, the kind of research is little done at home. So, There will be large theoretical value and application prospect for carrying out the research.
