The determination of anionic surfactants in water and wastewater by continuous flow injection method and methylene blue spectrophotometry were studied. The results show that both continuous flow injection and methylene blue spectrophotometry had good accuracy and precision. It took 3 minutes to analyze a sample. The application scope of continuous flow injection method was broader than methylene blue spectrophotometry. The time required of continuous flow injection was shorter, but the cost was higher. It is necessary to operate, clean and maintain the instrument strictly in accordance with the operating rules of the instrument. At the same time, temperature and humidity conditions in the laboratory should be strictly controlled, otherwise there is a greater impact on the experimental results. Methylene blue spectrophotometry has the advantages of low cost, easy maintenance and low maintenance cost.
