Tarim Basin is one of the important oil and gas producing areas in China. Although there is plentiful natural gas resource, the proven degree is still very low. Thus, Tarim Basin is one of the most potential basins for natural gas exploration in China. The potential area for coal-derived gas exploration in the Tarim Basin is as follows: deep-seated tight sandstone gas in the Kuqa Depression which has favorable reservoir conditions and large exploration potentials, the southwest depression which is poor in proven degree and great for discovering more coal-derived gas fields, the Yingjisu sag which is a exploration prospect of lithological gas pools due to one of the Lower-Middle Jurassic subsidence centers.
