Sediment Transport and Deposition Rate along the Boao Coast, Hainan Island
详细信息
摘要

Surface and core sediment samples were collected at the Boao Estuary in 2001 and 2009. On the basis of grain size analysis and 210Pb dating, grain size parameters and sediment transport pathway were acquired; sedimentation rates were estimated by a radioisotope method. The results show that the sediments in the estuary of the Wanquan River, Shameineihai Lagoon, and the northern Yudai sand barrier indicate a trend of becoming finer(from coarse sand to finer sand) from 2001 to 2009, while in the southern Yudai sand barrier keeps the sand condition almost unchanged. In addition, the sediment transport trend of the northern Shameineihai Lagoon was reversed to what was in 2001, while in the southern part the condition was almost unchanged.
