The Aquifer’s Capability of Regulating Water Resources in Zhangye Basin, Hexi Corridor, Gansu Province, China

详细信息
摘要
Zhangye Basin, located in the middle part of Hexi Corridor,Gansu Province, is relatively an independent hydrogeological unit. The aquifer system mainly consists of thick Quaternary deposits. Long-term groundwater monitoring data within Gobi desert indicates that, from the beginning of surface water infiltrating to its running out of the in-situ aquifer, the process can last over 20 months. Long-term monitoring data of the basin’s total spring overflow together with Heihe River flow shows that the dynamic periods of them are all about 14 years, but their peak and trough are opposite. It shows that they can compensate each other very well.Based on the above, it can be concluded that the thick Quaternary aquifer in Zhangye Basin is an ideal reservoir for regulating water resources.
