Genesis and microstructure of orbicular graphite collected from 1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />1:place w:st="on">1:City w:st="on">Oshirabetsu1:City>, 1:country-region w:st="on">Japan1:country-region>1:place>, was analyzed using optical microscope, X-Ray diffraction, and TEM. It can be concluded that along with graphite, orbicular graphite contains sulfide minerals, such as pentlandite, chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite and etc. SEM results show that most of orbicular carbon particles are elliptical, although some graphites are amorphous by HRTEM. Some graphites with good structures were also discovered. Therefore, existence of highly crystallized graphite (such as flaky and needlelike graphite) may suggest that the graphite formed under the catalysis of Fe-Ni-Cu sulfide.
