540-eo-2002">Ethyl 2-(2,6-dioxocyclohexyl)-2-oxoacetate was prepared by reacting 540-eo-0001">cyclohexane-1,3-dione (540-eo-0001" rel="references:#jhet2540-eo-0001">) and 540-eo-0002">diethyl oxalate (540-eo-0002" rel="references:#jhet2540-eo-0002">) with the help of 540-eo-2005">sodium ethoxide in ethanol at 0–5°C. Subsequent treatment of ethyl 2-(2,6-dioxocyclohexyl)-2-oxoacetate with hydrazine hydrate in ethanol resulted into 540-eo-2006">ethyl 4-oxo-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-2H-indazole-3-carboxylate while without solvent in excess hydrazine hydrate on reflux resulted into 540-eo-0003">4-oxo-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-2H-indazole-3-carbohydrazide (540-eo-0003" rel="references:#jhet2540-eo-0003">). The synthesis of novel indazole bearing oxadiazole derivatives (ODZ 01 to 16) has been achieved by the reaction of hydrazide of 2H-indazole (540-eo-0003" rel="references:#jhet2540-eo-0003">) with acid (540-eo-0005" rel="references:#jhet2540-eo-0005 #jhet2540-eo-0006 #jhet2540-eo-0007 #jhet2540-eo-0008 #jhet2540-eo-0009 #jhet2540-eo-0010 #jhet2540-eo-0011 #jhet2540-eo-0012 #jhet2540-eo-0013 #jhet2540-eo-0014 #jhet2540-eo-0015 #jhet2540-eo-0016 #jhet2540-eo-0017 #jhet2540-eo-0018 #jhet2540-eo-0019 #jhet2540-eo-0020">) in the presence of POCl₃, and the antimicrobial activity of synthesized novel compounds has been studied.
