The Inside Cover picture shows the use of acetone, which can be readily obtained from biomass, for the synthesis of chemicals and fuels using a single simple process. Sustainable and renewable alternatives to petroleum are critically needed to fill future gaps in supply of transportation fuels and chemical feedstocks. Fermentation approaches can yield small bio-derived molecules such as acetone and isopropanol; if these can be commercialized with the same success of cellulosic ethanol, this will provide another readily available building block for upgrading. More details about the procedure can be found in the Communication by Moore et al. on page 3382 in Issue 24, 2016 (DOI: 10.1002/cssc.201600936).
