In article 1605011, Y. F. Liu, H. G. Pan, and co-workers describe an amorphous Li2CO3-conformally coated nanocrystalline α-Fe2O3 hierarchical structure prepared by a facile room-temperature mechanochemical process. Concurrence of repeated fracture-cold welding and gas-solid redox reactions yield 1–3-nm-thick structures offering superior lithium storage performance with high initial reversible capacity, remarkable cycling stability, and better rate performance.
