Neodymium doped fluoroindogallate glasses as highly-sensitive luminescent non-contact thermometers

Nd3+-doped fluoroindogallate glasses with low phonon cutoff energy (500 cm−1) and free of OH groups. Nd3+-doped fluoroindogallate glasses as high performance luminescent thermometers operating in the NIR spectral region. Dopant concentration that minimizes losses (due to cross relaxation processes). Nd3+ emission detection with a R928 photomultiplier (no correction response for the wavelength dependence of the intensity). Highest relative thermal sensitivities so far observed for Nd3+-based thermometers, 7.4% K−1 at 288 K.
