Facial redness (erythema) is a common problem presenting in dermatology clinics. The full spectrum of differential diagnosis is very broad and thus beyond the scope of this article. However, the most common causes of a ‘red face’ relating to cutaneous rashes and lesions are considered. These have been divided into acute and chronic conditions. The presenting signs and symptoms as well as practical aspects of the management of each of these conditions are discussed within this article.
