Prospects of asymmetrically H-terminated zigzag germanene nanoribbons for spintronic application

Asymmetric hydrogen termination of Zigzag Germanene Nanoribbons (ZGeNR) is presented with their plausible spintronic device application. It is revealed that asymmetric terminations are energetically more favourable compared to symmetric terminations. The magnetic moment analysis depicts that asymmetric ZGeNR have a magnetic ground state with a preferred ferromagnetic (FM) coupling. Presented doped asymmetric ZGeNR exhibits a half-metallic character which makes them qualify for spin-filtering device.
