Simultaneous bio-autotrophic reduction of perchlorate and nitrate in a sulfur packed bed reactor: Kinetics and bacterial community structure

22.03 mg/L NO3−-N and 21.87 mg (or 472 μg)/L ClO4− was removed > 97% at HRT 0.75 h. 1/2 kinetics model fit the data well, ClO4− removal required longer time than NO3−. The reasons of inhibition and acceleration of S disproportionation was discovered. Bacterial community variation was analyzed by high-through put sequencing. Bacterial α and β diversity, and dominant genus was investigated.
