A cognitive-behavioral model of persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD) is presented. Dizziness becomes prolonged when it is processed as a threat. Dizziness is maintained by unhelpful appraisals, avoidance, and attentional strategies. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is a promising treatment for PPPD.
