Isolation and recombinant expression of a bacterial α-RHA from Novosphingobium sp. PP1Y was performed. Mechanism of action, kinetic parameters, pH and temperature optimum, tolerance to organic solvents of RHA-P were evaluated. The enzyme showed a promising biotechnological potential and was able to hydrolyze natural flavonoids.
