Cluster bean is a commercial crop with wide industrial application. Development of disease resistant varieties with higher gum is constant demand of farmers. To create variability various mutagens are exploited. Wide hybridization is not much successful. Progress on conventional breeding, in vitro culture, genetic transformation and molecular markers is reviewed.
