The concept of isovel contours is used to estimate rating curve in natural rivers. Discharges at two different stages are connected to each other as follows: QeQr=AeAr(Pt)e(Pt)r(USPM)e(USPM)rPePr-1.4. The new method advantage is its simplicity since it does not need any calibration. The rating curve can be generated based on only a single observation i.e. (Q,H). The main characteristics of the proposed method is its high accuracy.
