The feasibility of mercuric sulfide leaching with cuprous-thiosulfate solutions was discussed. The stability of cuprous-thiosulfate solutions was studied. The mechanism of mercuric sulfide leaching was investigated. The surface product of leaching residue was confirmed. The kinetics of mercuric sulfide leaching can be described by the product layer diffusion kinetic model.
