•: Clusterbean is a cash crop with wide application in many industries.
•: A total of 31 varieties of clusterbean were collected for phenotypic and molecular diversity.
•: Out of 17, 16 studied characters exhibited high heritability (>51%).
•: UPGMA dendrogram grouped all the varieties into five clusters at 0.13 coefficient.
•: SSR based clustering revealed five distinct groups at 0.68 cut-off value.
