WC-CoCr, Cr3C2-NiCr and Al2O3 coatings were cold spray deposited on AA5083 and friction stir processed. The SprayStirred WC-CoCr demonstrated a hardness increase of 100% over the cold sprayed coating. As-deposited and SprayStirred coatings were examined under slurry erosion test conditions. Mass and volume loss was measured following 20-min exposure to the slurry. The WC-CoCr and Al2O3 demonstrated a reduction in volume loss of approx. 40% over the cold sprayed coating.
