No gold standard for the measurement of adiponectin isoforms is available. We compare the (HMW) adiponectinLUMIPULSE assay to the total adiponectinMILLIPORE assay in various patient groups. There was a high correlation between the assays. HMW/total adiponectin ratio did vary with total adiponectin levels, however this was independent of clinical condition. Our results imply that HMW and total adiponectin have similar utility when measured in clinical conditions.
