Day length change and body condition index (BCI) shaped hunting strategy. BCI of active hunters was higher than that of sit-and-wait foragers. The proportion of active hunters increased from 5% in April to over 30% in October. The proportion of active vipers increased with age. Vulnerable neonates only employed sit-and-wait ambush as a hiding technique.
