Contribution of a reflective debriefing to nursing students' clinical judgment in patient deterioration simulations: A mixed-methods study

Students connected the cause of deterioration with their observations and actions. Guided discussion between students was the source of learning. Rehearsing a systematic assessment approach seemed to improve observations skills. Anticipating what could happen to the patient seemed to improve comprehension. Students who preferred to debrief on their own reached better learning outcomes.
