The interaction of potassium cyanide and three-nitrobenzene-sulphonate in solution for gold selective removal is investigated. Important factors are identified, and probable reaction products are proposed. Oxygen role and crystallographic plane exposure influence have been clarified. New industrial guidelines, improving the process with increased efficiency and sustainability, have been suggested.
