Trade-off analysis between a reaction wheel and a control moment gyroscope is performed. A new mechanical CMG design is proposed for small satellite applications. A two-stage viscoelastic damping system is designed to reduce the micro-vibrations. The output torque performances of the designed CMG are experimentally verified.
