Denitrifying phosphorus removal from municipal wastewater and dynamics of ‿span style='font-style: italic'>Candidatus Accumulibacter‿and denitrifying bacteria based on genes of ppk1, narG, nirS and nirK
Denitrifying P removal from real municipal wastewater was achieved, reaching 90%.
•
Clades IIC and IIF were the dominant Accumulibacter during denitrifying P removal.
•
NirS was the main functional gene to execute nitrite reduction.
•
Denitrifying P removal changed clade-level community structure of Accumulibacter.
•
Ratio of (nirS + nirK)/ppk1 could estimate the ratio of denitrifying Accumulibacter.
