Combination of dilute acid pre-extraction with mechanical refining was applied. Hemicelluloses were partially pre-extracted aiming for potential utilization. Enzymatic hydrolysis efficiency of pulp substrates was enhanced obviously. Surface lignin distribution showed negative impact on enzymatic hydrolysis.
