Enantioselective discrimination of menthone enantiomers by using achiral liquid chromatography with circular dichroism detection and penicillamine-coated gold nanoparticles
Synthesis and use of penicillamine-coated gold nanoparticles to enhance the optical rotation signal of menthone enantiomers.
•
A new designed home-made sample-cell to assure the reproducibility of solutions containing coated nanoparticles were used to produce the maximum ellipticity between menthone enantiomers by measuring the circular dichroism signal.
•
Enantioselective discrimination of menthone enantiomers by using the synthesised coated nanoparticles for the determination of the enantiomeric excess.
•
Analytical determination of these compounds in peppermint oil by the developed method avoiding the use of chiral HPLC separation.
