Interplanar spacing increases from 13 Ǻ to 20 Ǻ with infusion of sodium dodecyl sulphate micellar solution in the clay. Decrease of inter micellar separation in sodium saturated bentonite clay. The Na+ ions affect the fractional charge hence the effective charge on each of these confined micelles.
