Contribution of biological crust to soil CO2 efflux in a Mediterranean shrubland ecosystem
文摘
Biocrust contributes substantially to total soil CO2 efflux in semiarid ecosystems. Soil temperature is not a key driver of biocrust respiration in semiarid ecosystems. Biocrust respiration is decoupled from the CO2 efflux of deeper soil layers. The Lloyd and Taylor model was the best fit for soil but not for biocrust respiration. Accurate carbon cycle analysis should account for the respiration of the biocrust.
