Properties of fluorinated silica nanoparticles were investigated in water or decane-loaded pores of mineral silica using molecular dynamics simulation.
•
The water or decane-loaded pores represent liquid bridging.
•
Addition of nanoparticles to liquid-loaded pores results in weakening of the liquid bridge.
•
The hydrophobicity of the pore wall increases in the presence of adsorbed fluorinated silica nanoparticles.
