Terminal Pleistocene and Early Holocene fishing strategies at Quebrada Jaguay and the Ring Site, southern Perú
文摘

People at Quebrada Jaguay focussed on a few fish taxa from a relatively high trophic level.

People at the Ring Site practised a diverse strategy using fishes from many trophic levels.

People at Jaguay may have processed fish to use in acquiring obsidian from the Andean highlands.

There is no evidence that this maritime tradition emerged from an earlier hunting tradition.

Differences within and between the sites reflect regional environmental and social conditions.
