•: A displacement ventilation/evaporative cooled ceiling (DV/ECC) system is modeled.
•: The mathematical model of the DV/ECC system was validated experimentally.
•: DV/ECC is more effective at higher supply flow rate and lower relative humidity.
•: DV/ECC removed 20% load beyond the maximum limit of 40 W/m² of the DV system.
•: DV/ECC achieved 36.2% energy saving compared to typical DV/chilled ceiling system.
