The impacts of climate change on the SSM in the ‘3H’ region of China are explored. Extreme climate scenarios are obtained based on projections of RCP8.5. The future maximal changes in SSM are revealed by applying the CNOP-P approach. The CNOP-P-type scenarios consider the changes in climate variability. The differences are mainly located in the semiarid region of the ‘3H’ region.
