The effect of dietary high-tannin and low-tannin faba bean (Vicia faba L.) on the growth performance, carcass traits and breast meat characteristics of finisher turkeys
High- (HT) and low-tannin (LT) faba beans (FB) were added to finisher turkey diets.
•
Dietary FB inclusion at up to 300 g/kg had no influence on the growth rate of birds.
•
FB did not affect carcass traits or the chemical and sensory properties of meat.
•
Unlike HT diets, LT diets improved the feed conversion ratio.
•
The breast meat of turkeys fed HT diets was darker than that of birds fed LT diets.
