We identified an active fold-and-thrust system in the southeastern Atacama Basin.

The long-term shortening rate across this structural system is about 0.2 mm/yr.

This thin-skinned fold-and-thrust system has been active since at least ~ 3 Ma.

Crustal structures may be important in developing the western Andean margin.
