Asthma, allergic rhinitis and atopy have a high prevalence among elite athletes. EIRS, asthma-like symptoms and EIB are common among elite athletes. There is no association between EIRS and a positive airways response to BPTs. Screening elite athletes by using BPTs is highly recommended, irrespective of EIRS. Early detection of EIB using first Mch and/or either EVH or mannitol, is suggested.
