A new scanning filtering method for improving the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of chirped pulse based on the optical Kerr effect has been proposed. The schemes of double-beam interferential filter and multiple-beam interferential filter in combination with optical Kerr medium have been designed. Taking the pre-pulse and random noise as two typical noise models, the transmittance spectral characteristics of the two types of scanning filters have been analyzed, respectively. The factors affecting the SNR improvement and the transmittance of chirped pulse have also been discussed. Numerical simulation shows that the SNR improvement of more than three orders of magnitude can be achieved with appropriate parameters such as the length of the Kerr medium, the reflectivity of the parallel-plates of Fabry-Perot etalon, as well as the pump intensity.
