GhCaM7-like gene preferentially expressed in fast growing fibers. Silencing of the GhCaM7-like gene decreased fiber length, and reduced stem height, leaf dimensions, seed length and weight. GhCaM7-like mediated Ca2+ influx and affected the expression of GhIQD1, GhAnn2 and GhEXP.
