Comparison of electrochemical behavior of hydroxyapatite coated onto WE43 Mg alloy by electrophoretic and pulsed laser deposition

Slower degradation of WE43 was achieved when subjected to HAp coating using pulsed laser and electrophoretic deposition. PLD led to enhanced corrosion protection and adhesion to the substrate when compared to EPD coating. Low porosity and highly dense coating was attained using PLD. In depth electrochemical analysis of coated samples helped in understanding the corrosion behavior of the coatings.
